General Position Summary:
The Procurement team (as part of Operational department) ensures timely, compliant, and transparent acquisition of goods and services to support Mercy Corps' large-scale humanitarian programs. It operates within Mercy Corps' Field Procurement Policies and Procedures and donor regulations to guarantee accountability and stewardship of resources. The Procurement Officer is responsible for overseeing procurement aspects of Mercy Corps' operation and working closely with Program, Administration, Finance and Logistics. The Procurement Officer is instrumental in supporting program activities through their services.
Essential Responsibilities

- Actively learns about safeguarding and integrates it into their work, including safeguarding risks and mitigations related to their area of work.
- Practices the values of Mercy Corps including respecting the dignity and well-being of participants and fellow team members.
- Encourages openness and communication in their team; encourages team members to submit reports if they have any concerns using reporting mechanisms e.g., Integrity Hotline and other options.
General
- Coordinate and manage daily procurement activities across programs and operations.
- Ensure full compliance with Mercy Corps' procurement policies, formats, and documentation standards.
- Facilitate procurement planning with Program, Finance, Administration, and Operational teams.
- Guide staff in preparing clear purchase requests and supporting documents.
- Collect quotations, bids, and proposals in line with Mercy Corps' procurement standards.
- Prepare and maintain thorough procurement documentation and audit-ready files.Provide training and technical support to staff on procurement compliance.
- Support program teams with timely and cost-effective procurement solutions.
Other
- Conduct oneself at all times, both professionally and personally, in a manner that upholds Mercy Corps' values and does not jeopardize its humanitarian mission.
- Support procurement activities as required and directed by the Operations Lead.
- Maintain a positive, proactive attitude and demonstrate respect and collaboration with all colleagues.
