Position Overview
The Social Helper / Personal Caregiver provides direct, person-centered assistance to IDPs residing in collective centers who have limited mobility, disabilities, chronic health conditions, or cognitive impairments. The role aims to support daily functioning, well-being, and autonomy of residents while ensuring that assistance is delivered in line with humanitarian principles, protection standards, and respect for dignity, confidentiality, and individual choice.
1.Key Responsibilities
A. Direct Support to Beneficiaries
- Provide daily personal assistance to IDPs with limited mobility or functional impairments, including support with movement, hygiene, dressing, eating, and other activities of daily living, as required.
- Assist residents in safely accessing communal spaces, services, and facilities within the collective center.
- Support beneficiaries in maintaining autonomy and independence to the maximum extent possible.
- Monitor changes in residents' physical or psychosocial condition and promptly report concerns to supervisors or relevant service providers.
- Ensure that assistance is provided with respect, sensitivity, and cultural appropriateness at all times.
B. Protection, Dignity, and Safeguarding
- Apply a do-no-harm approach in all interactions with IDPs.
- Respect confidentiality and privacy of beneficiaries at all times.
- Identify and report protection concerns, safeguarding risks, or cases requiring referral, in accordance with organizational procedures.
- Promote inclusive, non-discriminatory assistance, with particular attention to persons with disabilities, older persons, and those with chronic illnesses.
- Uphold organizational Safeguarding, PSEA (Protection from Sexual Exploitation and Abuse), and Code of Conduct policies.
C. Coordination and Referrals
- Coordinate closely with Team4UA Protection Team as well as state-provided health, and social service teams to ensure continuity of care.
- Facilitate referrals to specialized services (medical, psychosocial, legal, or protection) when needed.
- Liaise with collective center staff and management to support safe and accessible living conditions for residents.
D. Documentation and Reporting
- Maintain accurate and confidential records of assistance provided, in line with organizational data protection standards.
- Contribute to regular activity reports and provide inputs on needs, challenges, and gaps observed in collective centers.
- Participate in assessments, monitoring activities, and feedback mechanisms when requested.
2. Expected Outputs and Deliverables
- Regular provision of quality, person-centered assistance to identified vulnerable IDPs.
- Timely identification and referral of protection, health, or care-related concerns.
- Accurate documentation and reporting of activities and observations.
- Active contribution to a safe, inclusive, and dignified environment within collective centers.
3. Reporting and Supervision
The Social Helper reports directly to the Protection Services Coordinator and works in close coordination with the Protection teams. Regular supervision and performance reviews will be conducted.
4. Duration and Working Conditions
- Contract duration: As per project funding 9 months.
- Working hours: Full-time, with flexibility required to respond to beneficiary needs.
- Field-based position requiring regular presence in collective centers.
- The role may involve physically demanding tasks.
5. Qualifications and Experience
Essential
- Ukrainian nationality and legal authorization to work in Ukraine.
- Secondary education required; vocational training in social care, n
